Seattle’s Amazon Botanical Spheres

Tech industries are expressing themselves through buildings. Amazon’s real estate director said “We wanted to do something that was not only great for employees, but for the city as whole.” On Amazon’s new $4 Billion urban campus, they built 3 interconnected spheres with trees, waterfalls, and treehouses.

To bring this project to life, a full time horticulturist, Ron Gagliardo, and his team acquire plants from botanical gardens and other adventurous expeditions. The 70,000 square feet section with 5 stories is an Amazonian vegetation home. 3,000 species from 30 countries are represented.
