IKEA Movable Walls for Small Spaces

As urban living is increasing, IKEA came up with an idea that can create more options to small spaces: movable walls. For example, a movable wall can separate a living and bedroom in a studio apartment. IKEA told the Wall Street Journal that it has been testing an 1980s style apartment with movable walls for the past two years. General feedback is that apartment feels bigger than its actual 215 sq ft size.

Head of Research Mikael Ydholm says the products are another three years from hitting the market due to logistics and safety regulations. This product is currently in testing phase. If approved, this product can add flexibility and privacy to living spaces.
